A rich tomato blood red soup, served with cheesy mozzarella and herb 'witches' fingers. Perfect for Halloween.

Ghoulish Eyeball Pasta With Blood Red Sauce

We don't make a huge deal of Halloween here but I do allow the kids to go Trick or Treating to a few neighbours houses. We'll also be tucking into this ghoulish eyeball pasta with blood red meatball sauce on Saturday evening whilst we watch the rugby. It's super easy to make, especially if you use ready made meatballs (I'm all for time saving) and if you can't find spinach tagliatelle just use plain pasta and stir in some pesto sauce to make it green. The spider is optional! *RELATED RECIPE - BLOOD SOUP WITH CHEESY WITCHES FINGERS * GHOULISH EYEBALL PASTA WITH BLOOD RED SAUCE Ghoulish Eyeball Pasta Pasta, Halloween Yield: 4 Author: Beth Sachs Print Recipe Pin it With Image Without Image Ghoulish Eyeball Pasta with Blood Red Sauce Ghoulish Eyeball Pasta with Blood Red Meatball Sauce prep time: 20 mins cook time: 25 mins total time: 45 mins ingredients: 1 Onion, chopped 1 Garlic Clove, chopped 4 rashers of Bacon, chopped...

Halloween Gingerbread Men

Halloween Gingerbread Men decorated with ready to roll icing, to create spooky and creepy characters. These Halloween Gingerbread Men are a great Halloween project for the kids to get stuck into. I make up my usual gingerbread dough recipe, then spread the cooled, cooked gingerbread men with buttercream (you can make it yourself or buy it ready made in a tub) - this helps the icing stick. The kids then rolled out some ready to roll icing (Renshaws) and used a knife and gingerbread cutters to cut out the shapes they wanted. We made ghosts, zombies, witches and mummies....and they tasted yummy! Be as creative as you dare! Pin the recipe for later! Try this next! Spiderweb Millionaire's Shortbread for Halloween

I saw Ruth make these a few days ago over on her blog The Pink Whisk and thought they would be a good half term Halloween bake for a rainy day....and today has definitely been rainy....and windy! Millionaires Shortbread used to be a favourite of mine when I was younger and if Mum was making them for a special event or bake sale she would cut off long strips in the baking tin and let my brother and I eat the offcuts...if she didn't get there first! I used silicone cupcake cases as Ruth suggests as they keep their shape better. Once the chocolate layer has set, just peel off the silicone cases and store in a cool dry place. For a more in depth photo tutorial on how to make these then please see Ruths blog. Below is the basic recipe and method. Gingerbread Skeletons

Enough of the laughter - I tried my best! Hopefully for those of you that are artistic you can see the potential in these Gingerbread Skeletons for Halloween. The dough itself is very easy to make and is based on a Delia Smith recipe that now has many adaptions. It withstands manhandling by the kids so it really doesn't matter how much they play around it. White Designer Icing (from Silverspoon) was used to pipe on the skeleton frame. Just make sure you knead the icing  tube a little before use, it makes piping a lot easier. This would make an ideal half term activity with the kids.
